Why Carpet?

There are many great reasons to choose carpet for your home, here are just a few things to consider.

Noise reduction

Carpet helps limit noise in a number of ways, one big one is reducing the sound of foot traffic; walking on carpet is much quieter than on hard floor surfaces. Additionally, carpet absorbs noises from people and music, making it a useful insulator, this is extremely helpful in multilevel homes and apartments.

Soft and warm feel

Carpet provides that warm cozy feel that is more difficult to achieve with hard floor surfaces, getting up in the morning with soft carpet beneath your toes is such a nice way to start the day.

Versatility

With a limitless choice of colors, patterns and textures you’re sure to find something you love to show off your style.

Safety

A carpeted floor is a safer floor with a reduced risk of falls and added cushion if one were to occur.

Which Type of Carpet is Best for My Home?

Three types of carpet fibers and why its important

Nylon: This is going to be the most durable and longest lasting, best for high traffic areas

Polyester: This is going to be the softest feel, best for bedrooms

BCF or Triexa: A blend of both Polyester and Nylon, Its slightly more expensive but you get a carpet that is both soft and holds up to wear

Cut Pile

In a cut pile carpet the carpet fibers are twisted together then cut to expose the ends of the carpet fibers, this helps it resist matting and crushing and gives a more formal look, the tighter the twist the more durable the carpet. Cut pile carpet also tends to be softer and more plush which makes it a great choice for bedrooms.

Loop Pile

Like a cut pile carpet, in a loop carpet the fibers are also tightly twisted together to create a loop but in this case they are not cut. The lower the loop, the more durable the carpet will be, there are level loop carpets as well as multilevel loop carpets which create a textured look with depth and dimension. loop pile carpet is a popular choice for stairs, hallways, or other rooms with a high amount of foot traffic but we do not recommend loop pile carpeting for homes with pets as it has a tendency to pull.

Cut-loop Pile

As you may have guessed a cut-loop pile carpet is a carpet that consists of both of the styles described above, this combination makes it possible to create interesting geometric and even floral patterns. This can be formal or informal and can come in many colors and designs.

How to Keep Your Carpets Looking Great

Just as important as vacuuming, regular cleaning and maintenance of your carpet is so important to keep it looking great over time.

Here are some easy steps to maintain the look of your carpet:

Dirt Free Home

One of the easiest ways to prevent dirt from entering the home is by placing walk-off mats outside each entrance to help absorb any soil and moisture as well as trap any excessive dirt, soil or oil that would otherwise be tracked through your home. It is recommended that you clean your mats on a regular basis to prevent them from becoming a source of soil as well.

Rearranging the room

One of the quickest ways to freshen up the feel of a room is by moving your furniture on occasion, which also helps avoid excessive pile crushing. It is recommended that you use carpet protectors under the legs of tables, chairs and other furniture to help distribute the weight. Some damage can occur when chairs or appliances with rollers or casters are used without a chair pad designed specifically for carpet.

Protecting your carpet during a move

The best way to prevent damage when moving heavy wheeled furniture (pianos, hutches, etc.) is by placing a protective barrier like heavy cardboard or plywood between the wheels and the carpet.

Cleaning area rugs

Area rugs also need regular cleanings, especially if you use area rugs on your carpet. Also, make sure you clean and restore the pile of the carpet underneath as well. After cleaning the area rug and carpet, allow them to dry completely before replacing rugs.

Avoiding direct sunlight

Another great way to protect your carpet is by preventing prolonged periods of direct sunlight with blinds, shades or awnings.
